We have argued over taxes, wars, religion, race, schools, labor, the size of government, and just about everything else two people can drag into a room and make uncomfortable. But I do not think we are having ordinary political arguments anymore. We are no longer disagreeing about what America should do. We are disagreeing about what America is, who it belongs to, what holds it together, and whether the country that was founded should be preserved, transformed beyond recognition, or replaced altogether.
